Changes at The Painted Cottage!

I just finished a great week at the Bouckville, NY, Antique Show. Sold lots of treasures and met lots of great gals. The 3 girls from 52flea visited my booth and bought some neat junk! Can't wait to visit their blog.
There are many changes going on at the Painted Cottage. I am currently in the process of moving my shop! Starting in September, you can find me in 2 new locations, The Westmoreland Antique Center in Westmoreland, NY and The Mustard Seed & Antiques at Stonemill in Little Falls, NY. I am excited about the changes and am looking forward to having more time with my family and for my projects!
Thank You for stopping by! Blessings, Kelly

Lots of treasures to be found! I will be selling there August 12th thru the 16th. Lets hope fore a beautiful week. I haven't been to many sales yet, but I do have a garage full of projects, just need to get working! Hope you all are enjoying the lazy days of summer. Stop back soon for some pictures of my projects. Blessings.

Summer is here!?

Well, summer is well on its way and I am a mess! I have neglected everything over the past several months to concentrate on my children's school. They attend or attended St Mary's School, Clinton, NY until the Catholic Diocese decided to close it. The school has been around for almost 50 years, and I attended it many many years ago. Needless to say we have been mourning its loss, and I have been at school constantly, organizing end of school activities.
Now , I can start focusing again on my shop, my home and my blog!

I will be set up at the Cooperstown Antique Show this Sunday in Cooperstown, NY. Hopefully the weather will clear. We have had oodles of rain in upstate New York since June. Here's looking for a dryer summer! Enjoy your 4th and stay safe!

Blessings,
Kelly

Spring Changes

When I opened the shop a year ago, I was hoping it would give me more time to paint....boy was I wrong! My loyal customers wanted to see more of my handpainting on vintage finds, so I decided to set up a painting area in my shop. It is in the corner of my blue room, right in front of the spectacular windows. All my paints, brushes and painting "stuff" is at the ready when it is slow in the shop. I can now paint and serve customers at the same time...and I have gotten alot done! I even sold a sign right off the table before I had even finished it. I love the new set up, and will have some pictures by the end of the week for all to see. Thanks all and have a great day!

Anniversary Celebration!

March 13, 2009 The Painted Cottage celebrated its 1 Year in business anniversary. We had a celebration with store specials, refreshments and a raffle for a spring cleaning basket won by Jane S. The weather was great and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!

Winter Blues

We are in the middle of a snow storm in upstate New York! So to chase away those blues, I have taken "the blues" literally and spread blue all over my shop! I love the vintage blues: aqua, robin's egg, powder and I just love being surrounded by these colors. I have painted 2 signs with pretty blue hydrangeas and am planning on painting a pretty aqua bed tray in the near future. Just not sure what to paint on it...creamy white roses or hydrangeas? Any Ideas? I'd love to see you in my shop, so if you are ever in the area, give me call and stop on by! I think you will be pleased. Have a great week and stop by soon! Kelly

Cleaning The Basement

Today I am continuing my work on our basement. As I delve into tightly closed boxes, I am amazed at the neat stuff I am finding! Things I had packed away and forgotten, unfinished projects, beautiful vintage linens with only a few spots that need soaking... The more I clean, the more I realize I have so much to do. Oh well, break time!!!!

Tomorrow(Thursday) its back to work. My shoppe is only open Thursdays thru Saturdays, so I have plenty of time to hunt for new treasures! I have been rearranging the shop and will take some more pics. Thanks for stopping by and Have a super great day!
Love, Kelly

Did The Groundhog see His Shadow Today?

It doesn't matter to me, because I know Spring is right around the corner. I am trying to get my house clutter free so I can start working on some new projects. I am currently painting a berry and bird nest scene on a vintage picnic basket for a customer of mine. I am also working on some large signs with bright flowers on old wood pieces. I love painting on old wood. My next big project will be strawberries on a white wood kitchen chair. Check back, for I will post pictures soon.
As you can see in my shoppe pics, I have some really lovely items on sale for Valentines Day. I love searching for both vintage and new decorations to sell. I recently sold a to- die- for vintage, deep red halter style gown...gorgeous! My mannequin is now wearing a lovely sheer blush pink frilly slip. My shoppe gives me the chance to play dress up, I love it!
Enjoy your day and stop by soon! Kelly

The Painted Cottage is new to blogging!

Welcome to my shop, The Painted Cottage, located in upstate New York. It is filled to the brim with cottage furniture and collectibles, candles, soaps, lotions, antiques and my very own hand painted treasures. I am an obsessed junker, and I love to paint on all the "junk" I find! My shop is full of whites and pastels and is so comforting during our typical New York winters.(95 inches of snow and counting!) Every spring town in my area have junk pickup, and on those days I travel around looking for stuff! One of my best finds was a pile of old white painted molding, chipped with pink showing through! I almost passed out! I am sure you junkers can relate!!!!

My girlfriend uses the molding for frames she sells in my shop. I love being a shop keeper and creating beautiful items for sale.
